What is an MRI scan of the foot or ankle?
Foot or ankle complaints are normally associated with twisting the foot inwards, resulting in: a sprained/twisted ankle, torn/severed ankle ligaments, a bruised ankle or even a fracture.
With an MRI Scan foot or MRI Scan Ankle, you quickly know what is going on. MRI is an examination technique where hundreds of images are made of your foot and/or ankle. This provides a physician with a better view of any possible abnormality or disease than on an X-ray.
The magnetic field and the radiofrequency waves are not harmful to your health. During scanning, you lie on a comfortable couch, which is pushed into a kind of tunnel. The tunnel is open at both the front and back. If you find lying in the tunnel claustrophobic, you may have someone with you in the MRI room. A nurse will be on stand-by to provide information and, if necessary, to put you at ease. In addition, during the MRI scan, you have a bell that you can use to interrupt the scan in emergencies.
What does a scan of the foot or ankle with MRI cost?
At Prescan, you can have an MRI Scan Foot or MRI Scan Ankle without a referral from your GP. You therefore do not have long waiting times. You can frequently be helped within a week. You receive the results and expert advice from a physician the following week after the examination so that you know where you stand. The advantage is that you could start on a possible course of treatment at an early stage. That increases the chance of a cure or recovery.
