What is an MRI scan of the foot?

MRI is an examination technique where hundreds of images are made of your foot. This provides a physician with a better view of any possible abnormality or disease than on an X-ray.

Why get an MRI scan of the foot?

Many people experience pain in the foot. In more than half of the cases, the symptoms occur due to practising sport. If you are having problems with your foot, you obviously want to know the cause as soon as possible. An MRI scan can provide a solution in this case. Pain in the foot could be caused by a sprain, fracture or inflammation. An MRI scan quickly identifies where the source of the pain is located. It provides you with more insight into the nature of the injury: torn ligaments, bone fractures, cartilage, tendons, muscles, wear/arthrosis and/or swelling of the foot.

The magnetic field and the radiofrequency waves are not harmful to your health. During scanning, you lie on a comfortable couch, which is pushed into a kind of tunnel that is open at both the front and back. If you find lying in the tunnel claustrophobic, you may have someone with you in the MRI room. A nurse will be on stand-by to provide information and, if necessary, put you at ease. In addition, during the MRI scan, you have a bell that you can use to interrupt the scan in case of emergency.

Why clients choose Prescan.

A tumor was discovered in my wife Emily’s lungs. She hadn’t smoked for 40 years. It came as a shock. Luckily, she was able to have an operation in time. And I turned out to have a large cyst on my liver. That was dealt with a few years later.
