MRI stands for “magnetic resonance imaging” It is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. Whole Body MRI Scan consists of five body parts that includes the brain, arteries to the brain & neck, lungs, abdomen and pelvis.
Our consultant radiologist analyses your MRI scan live and gives verbal consultation immediately after completing the scan. This consultation involves interactive discussion showing the images on the screen, any abnormality which is detected and potential advice on further work up.
Any abnormalities to organs (like brain, liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen, prostate, uterus and ovaries ) bones, muscles, tendons and nerves can be seen with an MRI scan.
The results of the scan can be used to help diagnose conditions and to plan treatments.
Prescan believes that your health is the most important thing and early detection is a key to the outcome of many diseases. The MRI scan focuses on detecting risk factors and (possible) conditions. This examination method is easily accessible, provides a lot of information and is not harmful to your health, as there is no X-Ray radiation involved. MRI is a painless and safe procedure.
After the examination, you will receive your initial results from the consultant radiologist and the MRI images will be sent via a digital download.
The written examination results, including the laboratory results, will be available the following week. You will receive a GP telephone consultation for this.
Your health is our priority!
A laboratory test involves a comprehensive examination of your blood and urine. This provides information into the functioning of your organs, but it can also detect risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as increased cholesterol. This will give you important information about your health situation. The laboratory tests includes cholesterol, glucose, kidney function, liver function, iron, vitamin D and large blood counts.
A laboratory examination can show diseases that cannot be seen on a scan. You will learn more about the functioning of organs, such as kidneys, thyroid and liver, your blood count, risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as elevated glucose and/or elevated fat values and the chance of certain types of cancer, such as bowel cancer, prostate cancer.
In addition to our laboratory tests (blood and urine), additional blood tests are possible such as an in-depth study of vitamins and minerals, hormones or allergies.
The blood tests are taken at the clinic. You do not need to be fast for a correct determination of glucose (sugar) and lipid profile (fat value). Your urine sample will be collected at the clinic.
You can collect your stools sample at home and bring them with you to the clinic in the stool sample kit that will be sent to you by post.
The reports of your blood, urine and stool results will be received the following week by email and will also be discussed with you during the telephone GP consultation.
